19-Y-0 dies one week after Plaisance accident
One week after he was involved in a serious accident along the Plaisance public road, East Coast Demerara (ECD), 19-year-old Jason Prince, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday while receiving treatment at a city hospital.
Prince, a labourer of South Vryheid’s Lust, ECD, was struck down by a motorcycle on June 6, 2022, in the vicinity of Lui Chi Supermarket at Plaisance.
According to reports, on the day in question, around 20:15 hrs, the 28-year-old motorcyclist was proceeding west along the southern side of the road when he collided with Prince, who was crossing the said road.
As a result, both Prince and the motorcyclist received injuries. Prince was rushed to the Woodlands Hospital with serious injuries to the head while the motorcyclist suffered a fractured right arm.
The motorcyclist was initially released on cash bail pending investigation.
Regional Commander, Khali Pareshram, told the News Room that a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted on Wednesday and the police file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
