A 49-year-old man from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) and a 68-year-old man from Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) are the country’s latest COVID-19 deaths.
The Ministry of Health reported that the men died on Monday. The 68-year-old was fully vaccinated while the other man’s vaccination status is unknown.
This means that the total number of deaths recorded since March 2020 has increased to 1,244.
Meanwhile, another 120 people were infected with the novel coronavirus after 1,656 tests were done, based on information from the Ministry of Health’s daily COVID-19 dashboard.
With these new infections, the total number of cases recorded since March 2020 has increased to 66,129.
The new cases were recorded in the following regions: Region One (one case), Region Two (19 cases), Region Three (13 cases), Region Four (66 cases), Region Six (15 cases), Region Seven (three cases), and Region 10 (three cases).
There is one patient in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 19 patients in institutional isolation and 820 patients are in home isolation.
To date, 64,045 people have recovered.
