A 41-year-old man of Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara was arrested by police at the Supenaam Stelling in Region Two (Pomeron-Supenaam).
Police said he was found with an unlicensed gun and 16 ounces of raw gold on Sunday.
The Guyana Police Force in a statement further noted that the man was observed acting suspiciously at about 16:10hrs and as such a search was carried out.
“A further search was done on a black haversack bag which he had on his back. The Police found an unlicensed black 9MM Luger pistol and 6 live matching rounds as well as a quantity of raw gold (16 ounces and 4 pennyweights) that was wrapped in duck tape, inside the bag,” the statement noted.
