Milo Schools Football: Big wins for Charlestown and Dolphin on opening day

The Milo Schools Boys Under-18 football tournament started on Saturday and some usual suspects were among the goal-scorers in massive wins at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

The biggest win of the day came from Charlestown Secondary, who defeated The Bishops’ High 10-0, led by a helmet-trick of goals from Malcolm Hendricks (27th, 40th, 42nd and 65th minutes), braces from Tyler Lyle (22nd and 52nd) and Rhyme Matthews (50th and 60th) and single strikes from Andre Cato (13th) and Michael Andrew (44th).

Dolphin Secondary won 4-1 over St. John’s College with goals from Nicholas Tappin (25th and 60th), Brian Burnette (29th) and Gary Burnette (50th) after David Xavier had placed St John’s in the lead in the 20th. St. John’s had lost one of their players, Kenan Tyrell via red card in the 70th minute.

Elijah Sattaur netted in the 56th and 65th to deliver a win for West Ruimveldt Secondary over Queen’s College, whose loan goal from Triston Richards in the 54th minute.

Additionally, Carmel got the better of Bladen Hall with a 6-1 victory, via goals from Leon Sears (8th and 45th), Dwain Baptist (20th and 50th), Matthew Layne (32nd) and Nephi Allicock (64th). Darius Nebbleth netted for the East Coast unit in the 21st minute.

Meanwhile, Sunday’s four fixtures were rained out, but those matches will be played on Wednesday and Thursday from 17:00h.

Matches will then continue over the weekend in the straight knockout tournament as teams look to book their spot in the July 10 final.
