Unvaccinated woman, 85, dies from COVID; 107 new cases recorded

An unvaccinated 85-year-old woman from Region Two (Pomeroon – Supenaam) died on June 9 from COVID-19, the Ministry of Health reported on Wednesday.

With the latest death, Guyana has recorded a total number of 1,249 deaths since March, 2020.

Meanwhile, the ministry has recorded 107 new cases of COVID-19 from 988 tests.

With these new infections, the total number of cases recorded since March 2020 has increased to 66,965.

The new cases were recorded in the following regions: Region One (three), Region Two (20 cases), Region Three (three cases), Region Four (68 cases), Region Six (ten) and Region Nine (three).

There are two patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 22 patients are in institutional isolation, and 831 patients are in home isolation.

To date, 64,591 people have recovered.
