Vendor loses $1M in jewellery during East Ruimveldt break-in

A 47-year-old female vendor of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown lost over $1 million worth in jewellery in an alleged break-in by unknown persons.

The alleged break-in occurred on Tuesday between 16:00 hours and 23:45 hours.

Police said according to the victim, on Tuesday at about 16:00 hours, she secured her home and went to work.

Upon her return at about 23:45 hours, as she entered the house and into her bedroom, she noticed a window facing east was ajar with the wooden bars pried out; the room and wardrobe were ransacked.

The woman made further checks and discovered the articles – one gold band valued $270,000; seven gold rings valued $756,000; one gold chain valued $63,000 and one gold earring valued $27,000 were missing.

Police said several persons in the area were questioned, however, no useful information was received.
