The Ministry of Health on Thursday reported that 140 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded from 1,263 tests conducted over a 24-hour period.

The new cases were recorded in the following regions: Region One (five), Region Two (nine), Region Three (six), Region Four (51), Region Five (one), Region Six (62), Region Seven (one), Region Nine (one) and Region Ten (4).

With the new cases, the overall number of confirmed cases in Guyana since the virus was first detected in Guyana in March 2020 has increased to 66,835.

There are two patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 16 patients are in institutional isolation, and 830 patients are in home isolation.

To date, 64,738 people have recovered.
