Guyana slumped to their worst batting performance in the Women’s Regional Super50 as they were bowled out for just 23, paving the way for a comfortable eight-wicket victory by Jamaica, who now face Barbados in Saturday’s final at the National Stadium, Providence.
It was a delayed start due to the weather and the match was reduced to 38 overs per side, but on the greenish pitch, the Guyanese time in the middle lasted 11.2 overs on Thursday afternoon.
Extras, which contributed nine, was the most, as skipper Shemaine Campbelle top-scored with five followed by Erva Giddings (4) and Shabika Gajnabi (3). Seven batters were dismissed without scoring.
Off-spinner Vanessa Watts took 5-5 from 5.2 overs while pacer Chinelle Henry had 5-18 from six overs.
Jamaica then blazed to 27-2 in 5.1 overs led by Rashada Williams with 12 (4xs) from 11 balls and Jodi-Ann Morgan (8 from 5 balls) as Tremayne Smartt (1-10) and Plaffiana Millington (1-16) brought a glimmer of hope for the Guyanese.
