Windwards Islands finished the Cricket West Indies CG United Women’s Super50 Cup with a massive 151-run triumph over Leeward Islands on Friday at the National Stadium, Providence.

The win guaranteed the Windward Islands a fifth place finish in the tournament, with Leeward Islands ending at the bottom in sixth.

Batting first, Windward Islands piled up 241-8 from the allotted 50 overs and then dismissed Leeward Islands for 90 in 21.5 overs.

Carena Noel, batting at number eight, spurred Windward Islands to the highest total this season, scoring an unbeaten 72 off 61 balls (9x4s).

Qiana Joseph made 30, Kimone Homer scored 28 and fellow opener Jannillea Glasgow 22.

Bowling for Leeward Islands, Amanda Edwards took 3-30, Rozel Liburd 3-34 and Tiffany Thorpe 2-47.

In reply, Leeward Islands lost half their side by the 12th over with just 44 runs on the board and never really recovered.

Shawnisha Hector topscored with 24 and Thorpe made 20. Tracy Byron, playing her first game of the tournament, took 3-32, Joseph 2-0, Pearl Etienne 2-20 and Glasgow 2-25.

The tournament will come to an end on Saturday with the grand final between defending champions Barbados and Jamaica from 09:30h at the same venue.

Jamaica won the preceding T20 Blaze competition, in the process dethroning Barbados, who had won the ‘double’ the last time the tournament was held in 2019.
