Cambio dealer who crashed into dead cow on Diamond interlink road dies

Cambio dealer, 43-year-old Vishraykanand Narayan of Downer Street, Grove, East Bank Demerara, died on Monday, hours after he was involved in an accident along the Diamond interlink road, East Bank Demerara.

The police said the man suffered a fractured shoulder and pelvis injuries after the accident, which occurred around midnight on Sunday.

Narayan and his wife, 46-year-old Geeta Sammy were travelling along the Diamond Access Road in motor car PGG 9779 when Narayan reportedly collided with a dead cow, which was lying on the side of the roadway.

This caused him to lose control of his vehicle, which toppled several times.

The car eventually collided with a concrete culvert and both Narayan and his wife received injuries.

The couple was picked up in a conscious condition by public spirited citizens who transported them to the Diamond Diagnostic Center. They were both seen and examined by a doctor.

Sammy was treated for minor abrasions about the body and sent away, while Narayan was admitted a patient. He was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was further seen and examined by a doctor on duty.

He was admitted a patient in the male surgical ward where he succumbed to his injuries at around 06:55 hrs. The body was escorted to the Hospital Mortuary and is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
