Police have arrested a 22-year-old security guard who allegedly robbed a sales representative from Foulis, East Coast Demerara (ECD) of his cellphone which has since been recovered.
The armed robbery was committed on 29-year-old Visram Alli on June 27 between 05:55hrs and 06:00 hrs at Bare Root and Enterprise Main Access Road, ECD.
Police Headquarters reported that the victim was riding his bicycle when the suspect rode up to him, also on a bicycle, armed with a cutlass and relieved him of his Samsung A71 cellphone valued at $80,000.
The suspect, a security guard from Enmore squatting area, ECD, then escaped.
“The matter was reported to the Police and the suspect was contacted at his home, where a search was conducted and the cellphone recovered.
“Investigation is ongoing,” the police said.
