Man, 71, dies from COVID; 70 new cases recorded

A 71-year-old man from Region Four (Demerara – Mahaica) whose vaccination status is unknown is the latest person who died after testing positive for COVID-19.

With the new death, which was recorded on June 29, 2022, the total number of deaths since the virus was first detected in March, 2020 has increased to 1, 254.

Meanwhile, the ministry has recorded 70 new cases of COVID from 479 tests.

With these new infections, the total number of cases recorded has increased to 67, 395.

The new cases were recorded in the following regions: Region One (four), Region Two (five), Region Three (eight), Region Four (46), Region Six (one), Region Seven (five) and Region Ten (one).

There are two patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 2 patients are in institutional isolation, and 821 patients are in home isolation.

To date, 65, 292 people have recovered.
