Woman, 88, dies from COVID; 77 new cases recorded

An 88-year-old woman from Region Four (Demerara – Mahaica) whose vaccination status is unknown is the latest person who died after testing positive for COVID-19.

The woman died on June 28 according to the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 update on Friday.
With the new death, the total number of deaths since the virus was first detected in March 2020 has increased to 1, 255.

Meanwhile, the ministry has recorded 77 new cases of COVID from 752 tests.

With these new infections, the total number of cases recorded has increased to 67, 472.

The new cases were recorded in the following regions: Region Two (seven), Region Three (three), Region Four (55), Region Six (nine), Region Seven (one), and Region Ten (two).

There are two patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 26 patients are in institutional isolation, and 826 patients are in home isolation.
