Organisers would be hoping for better weather conditions, as eight matches are carded for this weekend

After the inclement weather prevented any play last weekend, organisers of the Milo Schools Football tournament are anticipating action to resume on Sunday (July 3) when some of the top teams swing into action at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

The preliminary rounds have ended (albeit those were also knockout matches), and now the crème de la crème of the teams remain.

Defending champions, Christianburg Wismar Secondary play their first match on Sunday from 12:30h against Carmel Secondary followed by West Ruimveldt and Marian Academy from 14:00h.

Uitivulg Secondary and Cummings Lodge then duel from 15:30h and North Ruimveldt, who defeated neighbours, East Ruimveldt 4-2 on penalty kicks in the preliminaries, face Canje Secondary from 17:00h.

The action then moves to Monday, for a battle for East Coast Demerara units, Golden Grove Secondary and the usually proficient, Annandale Secondary.

Dolphin Secondary and New Central clash afterwards then Tucville Secondary and Friendship Secondary faceoff.

The final match will see former champions Lodge Secondary play fourth-place finishers of 2019, President’s College.

Match times on Monday are the same as Sunday.

The third-place playoff and final are slated for July 10.

A cash prize of G$300,000 will be awarded to the tournament’s winner to go towards a school project. Second to fourth will cop G$200,000, G$100,000 and G$75,000 respectively. There will also be individual prizes for top performers.
