Man, 28, dies in Silver Hill accident


A 28-year-old man died after he reportedly ran into the path of a truck along the Silver Hill Public Road on the Soesdyke Linden/Highway on Sunday.

Dead is Steven Dhanbeer of La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara.

An eyewitness told the News Room that Dhanbeer was a passenger in a Linden-Georgetown hire car when the vehicle stopped at Silver Hill for him to urinate.

The eyewitness said he crossed the road and while returning to the car, a truck (GNN 1385) with a trailer (TJJ 3014) collided with him.

The truck was being driven by Threon Dash, 27, of Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara.

Meanwhile, the police reported that the truck was proceeding north along the western side of the said road when the front portion collided with Dhanbeer.

“As a result of the collision, he fell unto the road surface and sustained injuries about his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene,” the police said.
