Motorcyclist dies hours after Sandy Babb accident

Keshawn Wray, a 26-year-old motorcyclist of Prospect, East Bank Demerara (EBD) died on Sunday following an accident two days ago at the intersection of Sandy Babb Street and Vlissengen Road in Georgetown.

The pillion rider, 21-year-old Fareesa Azeez of Eccles, EBD, suffered a broken right foot and abrasions about her body.

The accident occurred on Friday at about 23:40hrs and involved a car driven by 52-year-old Wayne Robinson of Sophia, Georgetown.

Police said the motorcycle (CJ 3612) was proceeding north along the western carriageway when Wray reportedly failed to stop at the intersection and collided with the car.

As a result, Wray and Azeez fell onto the road surface and received injuries.

They were both picked up in a conscious condition by EMTs and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Police said Wray succumbed at about 05:00hrs on Sunday.

His body is presently lying at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
