Suspected thieves arrested after robbing teenagers at Nismes

Police have arrested two men in connection with the robbery of two teenagers which occurred on Saturday night on the Nismes Public Road on the West Bank of Demerara.

Police Headquarters reported that the two male suspects were apprehended at the western side of the Demerara Harbour Bridge.

They were found with seven different kinds of cellphones and one silver chain which they do not own. They were both told of the offence committed, cautioned and one of the suspects admitted to committing the offence.

The other suspect denied having any involvement after which they were escorted to Parfaite Harmonie Police Station.

According to the police report, the 18-year-old porter of Patentia, WBD, was robbed of a silver chain valued at $7,000 and one Samsung Galaxy A10 cell phone valued at $40,000.

The other victim – an 18-year-old female student of Patentia – was robbed of a Samsung Galaxy J7 valued at at $40,000, one pink purse valued at $2,500 and an undisclosed sum of Guyana currency.

The victims claimed that they were standing on the road at around 22:30hrs when two identifiable males approached them on a motorcycle, grabbed onto their clothes, took away the above mentioned articles and escaped.
