The Guyana Police Force’s vehicle was driven at the time of the accident by Mike Millington, 29-year-old Police Constable, of Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, Berbice.

The pick-up was proceeding south along the eastern side of the Soesdyke Public Road at a fast rate of speed when the driver overtook a motor car and in doing so collided head-on with motorvan GWW 7777, which was proceeding north along the western side of the said road.

As a result of the collision, both vehicles ended up on the western side of the road, and received extensive damage.

Cheng received injuries to his head and about the body. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted as a patient in the male surgical ward suffering from injuries to his head and about the body.

His condition is listed as stable. One of the SWAT ranks also received minor injuries.
