Two more COVID deaths,144 new cases

Two men, ages 66 and 73, from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) are recorded as the country’s latest COVID-19 deaths.

The Ministry of Health on Wednesday reported that the men died on June 05, taking the total number of deaths since March 2020 to 1, 258.

The men’s vaccination statuses are unknown.

Meanwhile, 144 new cases were recorded after 1, 123 tests were conducted.

With the new cases, the country’s overall number of confirmed cases increased to 67, 843.

The new cases were recorded in Region One (16 cases), Region Two (14 cases), Region Three (17 cases), Region Four (56 cases), Region Five (5 cases), Region Six (16 cases), Region Seven (seven cases), Region Nine (two cases) and Region Ten (11 cases).

There are two patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit; 39 are in institutional isolation and 700 are in home isolation.

To date, 65, 844 people have recovered from the virus.
