Neman ‘Boyee’ Persaud, a 26-year-old labourer of Mon Repos North, East Coast Demerara was Thursday charged and subsequently remanded to prison for murder.
Persaud was charged with the murder of Agnes Dillon, an 86-year-old female pensioner from Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara.
He appeared before Magistrate Rushelle Liverpool at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
The matter was adjourned until 2022/09/12.
He was arrested on Saturday, two days after the elderly woman was found in a pool of blood at her home.
After confessing, Persaud took investigators back to the scene and pointed out where he gained entry into the house and where he reportedly disposed of the murder weapon.
However, investigators have so far been unable to recover the weapon due to dense vegetation in the area.
Two persons were initially arrested on Friday in connection with the murder.
Dilion was found lying in a pool of blood at her house on June 30, 2022, with suspected stab wounds to her left and right upper chest and suspected chop wounds to her right hand and right-side face.
The initial police report said she was murdered between 17:30hrs on June 29 and midday on June 30.
The elderly woman lived alone in the lower flat of a two-storey wooden house; the upper flat is occupied by the landlord.
