Driver in Linden Highway accident lost control of vehicle after driving into pool of water

Two children, ages one and six, are among five persons who are hospitalised after two cars collided along the Kuru Kuru, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.

Takeal Johnson, 22, Denika Washington, 23, and one-year-old Jaiel Johnson of Half Mile Linden, Region Ten, were travelling in the motor car PYY 6026 on Monday around 07:00h when the accident occurred.

Johnson, the driver and owner of the car, was reportedly proceeding north along the western side of the road when he drove into a pool of water.

This caused Johnson to lose control of the vehicle which spun several times and ended up in the eastern lane.

The car then collided with motor car PSS 6927, driven by 30-year-old Clifern Wilson of Obama Drive, Linden.

Six-year-old Javier Washington, also of Obama Drive, Linden, was an occupant in the car.

At the time, Wilson was proceeding south along the east side of the said road.

As a result of the collision, both vehicles were damaged and the drivers and occupants received injuries.

Jaiel was taken out of the vehicle by public spirited citizens and taken to the Linden Hospital, while the other four persons were taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Center where they were seen and examined by doctors on duty.

Denika was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital in an unconscious condition, suffering from head injuries.

The police are investigating the accident.
