Two men found with gun arrested

Police arrested two men who were found with a 9mm pistol and seven matching rounds on Sunday.

The men aged, 30 and 20, are both from Middle Street, Sparendaam on the East Coast of Demerara.

“Acting on intel, between 03:45hrs and 04:00hrs on [Sunday], police ranks went to Regent Street where they intercepted the motorcar which was parked in the vicinity of Pizza Hut. In the driver’s seat at the time was the 30-year-old male, and the 22-year-old was the other occupant in the vehicle,” Police Headquarters said in a statement.

During a search of the car, the 9mm pistol with the serial number filed out along with a magazine and seven matching rounds of ammunition were found under the driver’s seat.

Both men were arrested and taken along with the seized weapon and car to the Brickdam Police Station.

They both remain in custody pending further investigations.
