Woman, 79, is latest COVID fatality; 184 new cases confirmed

A 79-year-old unvaccinated woman from Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) is Guyana’s latest COVID-19 fatality.

The Ministry of Health on Tuesday reported that the woman died on July 10. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 1, 263.

Meanwhile, 184 new COVID-19 cases were recorded from a total of 934 tests conducted.

The new cases were recorded in Region One (11 cases), Region Two (14 cases), Region Three (12 cases), Region Four (104 cases), Region Five (eight cases), Region six (two cases), Region Seven (13 cases) and Region Ten (20 cases).

There are five patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit and 34 patients in institutional isolation; 779 are in home isolation.

To date, 66,328 people have recovered.
