Man found guilty of repeatedly raping girl,13

Collin Venture, 31, was, on Wednesday, found guilty of three counts of rape committed on a 13-year-old girl in 2020.

Venture of ‘B’ Field Sophia, Georgetown was on trial before Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall at the Demerara High Court.

He had pleaded not guilty to the three charges which alleged that during September, and on October 26, 2020, in Georgetown, he raped the girl.

A 12-member jury, after deliberating for over two hours, found Venture guilty of the indictments.

He was remanded to prison until he is sentenced on July 27.

The state was represented by State Counsel Cicelia Corbin, Caressa Henry and Paneeta Persaud. Venture was represented by Alaira Murphy-Goodman.

According to the facts of the case, Venture would frequent a shop owned by the victim’s parents and it is there he would lure her into the toilet and rape her.

The matter was reported and Venture was arrested.
