Construction worker, 19, stabbed to death in Parfaite Harmonie

A 19-year-old construction worker was brutally stabbed to death on Wednesday with a pair of scissors by a man who is in hiding.

Dead is Chrisgaichan Narine called ‘Boyo’, of Recht-Door-Zee, West Bank Demerara (WBD).

Police Headquarters in a statement said the incident occurred at about 16:50hrs at Independence Drive in the vicinity of Third Avenue, La Parfaite Harmonie, WBD.

According to the police report, the teen and his 23-year-old uncle Gansham Singh, were riding home when they noticed the suspect approaching them from the opposite direction on an electric bike.

The suspect then attacked the young man and the uncle ran away. Police said Narine and the suspect were involved in a scuffle during which he was stabbed with the scissors to his lower abdomen and left shoulder.

The suspect then escaped and the uncle returned and attempted to help the teen but he collapsed on the road.

The uncle then rode to the Parfaite Harmonie Police Station and reported the matter.

A Police vehicle went to the scene, where the victim was picked up and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital.

He later succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment, at about 18:10hrs.

The body was escorted to Ezekiel Funeral Home where it is presently lying awaiting an autopsy.

Investigations are ongoing.
