Two arrested after dumping ganja out of moving car

A 38-year-old man of Durban Street, Georgetown who reportedly dumped 46.36 grams of marijuana out of his car while trying to evade police ranks was arrested on Thursday along with a 58-year-old male passenger.

Police Headquarters said the incident occurred at about 13:20hrs. According to the report, the driver was observed smoking marijuana by two ranks on police patrol at Cummings Street and South Road in Georgetown.

“The ranks signalled the 38-year-old driver to stop and he refused to do so while continuing to drive South on Cummings Street,” the report stated.

The ranks pursued the driver and while in the vicinity of Camp and Croal Streets, the driver allegedly discarded a transparent plastic bag with marijuana.

The car was subsequently intercepted at Hadfield and Cross Streets.

The driver and occupant were arrested and escorted to the Brickdam Police Station.
