Miner, 43, caught with gun and ammo

A 43-year-old miner was caught with a revolver and two matching rounds of ammunition at a house in Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown on Sunday.

Police Headquarters reported that around 03:20hrs, a Gazetted Officer and several other police officers visited the house.

When the officers arrived at the premises, the miner was observed standing in front of the house. He, however, attempted to flee the scene when confronted.

The officers chased after him and apprehended him. Once caught, a brown .38 Smith and Wesson revolver along with two live matching rounds of ammunition were found in his left side pants waist.

He was told of the offence committed, cautioned and arrested. The man was then escorted to Brickdam Police Station.

An investigation in progress.
