Woman, 102, among two COVID deaths; 46 new cases recorded

A 102-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man, who both resided in Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica), were infected with the disease COVID-19 and died, the Ministry of Health reported.

The woman, who was unvaccinated, died on July 16; the vaccinated man died on July 17.

This means that a total of 1,266 COVID-19 deaths have been recorded since March 2020 in Guyana.

Meanwhile, another 46 people were infected with the disease, taking Guyana’s total number of confirmed infections to 68,913.

The new cases were recorded in: Region Two (one case), Region Three (four cases), Region Four (33 cases), Region Five (three cases), Region Six (four cases) and Region 10 (one case).

There are two patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 32 patients are in institutional isolation and 950 patients are in home isolation.

To date, 66,663 people have recovered.
