One arrested as ‘gun play’ outside city restaurant leaves man injured

Police on Tuesday confirmed that one person was injured on Monday when guns were indiscriminately fired by persons known to each other in the vicinity of popular Lamaha Street, Kitty restaurant and lounge.

Police said the shooting incident occurred at about 01:30 hrs for which a 28-year-old male is presently in Police custody

Deon Jerrick was shot below his armpit on his left side abdomen.

Police said Jerrick was in the company of friends when they were involved in an argument with the suspect.

This resulted in a ‘gun play’, where both Jerrick and the suspect discharged firearms.

The suspect then ran south along Lamaha Street but was later apprehended by the Police.

The injured Jerrick was supported by one of his friends and taken to the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital where he is presently receiving treatment.

His condition is regarded as serious but stable.

The suspect is presently in custody assisting with the investigation.
