The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) and Guyana Beverages Inc. (GBI) have signed an agreement to host a Kool Kidz Futsal camp for children ages six to ten at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Initially, it was to be for one year, but the sponsors made a decision to extend it to three years

GFF President, Wayne Forde revealed the idea birthed months ago as they recognized the opportunity with the children being home from school, they can introduce the young generation to the sport via the Futsal format.

More so, Samuel Arjoon, General Manager of GBI said they as a company is steadfast in ensuring the development of human resources, and this is a perfect opportunity for young kids to explore through football.

According to Sport Minister, Charles Ramson Jr., it is vital there is always a “renewal of talent” and this is a means by which such can be achieved by investing at these tender ages.

“What has been one of the bugbears in not progressing our talent in football, and in all the other sports too, is that there has always been a bottleneck, there has always been a breakage in the stricture of the pathway that leads them all the way to the top”, the Sport Minister contended.

For the next six weeks, the programme will be held on Saturdays from 10:00h to 13:00h with oversight from coaches to develop techniques, and there will be random eight-a-side matches.

The bigger aim is to find talent for national duties, and the GFF is aiming to have 100 children, according to Assistant Technical Director, Bryan Joseph.
