Another COVID death; 34 cases recorded

A 49-year-old man from Region Two (Pomeroon – Supenaam) is Guyana’s latest COVID-19 fatality. The Ministry of Health reported the man died on July 23; his vaccination status is unknown. This latest death takes the total number of deaths since March 2020 to, 1, 270.

Meanwhile, 34 new COVID cases were recorded after 289 tests were conducted. This means that the overall number of confirmed cases has now increased to 69, 447.

The new cases were recorded in; Region Two (two cases), Region Three (three cases), Region Four (26 cases), Region Six (one case) and Region Ten (two cases).

There are five patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 28 are in institutional isolation and 806 are in home isolation.

To date, 67, 338 people have recovered from the virus.
