Linden man dies in hit and run

Dale Nelson, 21, succumbed to injuries he received in a hit and run accident in the wee hours of Sunday along the Amelia’s Ward Public Road in Linden.

Nelson was the pillion rider on motorcycle CK 7806 which was being driven by 18-year-old Julian Graham of Central Amelia’s Ward.

Police headquarters reported that the accident occurred at about 02:05hrs. A motorcar, PGG 764, collided with the men on the motorcycle and fled the scene.

According to reports, Nelson, who is also from Central Amelia’s Ward, was not wearing a safety helmet. Both men were thrown off the motorcycle and received injuries about their bodies.

Nelson was picked up in an unconscious condition while Graham was in a conscious condition. They were both taken by public-spirited persons to the Linden Hospital where Nelson died while receiving medical treatment.

Police said Graham was admitted for observation and his condition is stable.

Meanwhile, the car involved in the accident was found abandoned at Toucan Drive Access Road in Amelia’s Ward.

The motorcycle and car were lodged to be examined by a Licensing and Certifying officer as the investigations continue.
