GCB postpones Inter-county Two-Day tournament

Matches were scheduled for the LBI ground, East Coast Demerara

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) announced on Monday, that they have postponed their Under-19 Inter-County Two-Day tournament due to “unusual heavy and persistent rainfall for the past few days.”

The tournament, which got underway on July 20, was expected to be completed on August 2, however, both of the matches contested thus far have been affected by rain at the La Bonne Intention Cricket Facility, East Coast Demerara.

In those two matches, Berbice defeated Rising Star XI by an innings and 31 runs in the first round while Demerara won first innings points against Essequibo in the second round.

The recommencement of the tournament will be announced later, the GCB indicated via a release to the media.

The tournament is being held to prepare and select the Guyana Under-19 team who will travel to St Vincent and the Grenadines for the Regional tournament that starts on August 7.

Only the Three-Day format will be played this year.
