Shimron Hetmyer has passed his fitness test and it is likely that the dashing left-hander will be included in the West Indies T20 International squad for the five matches against India, which start on July 29 in Trinidad and Tobago.

News Room Sport understands that Hetmyer along with other players did the fitness test at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on Tuesday morning, where he managed to surpass the required 40-mark on the Yo-Yo test.

He traveled with the One-Day International squad from Guyana to Trinidad.

“With him passing his fitness test, he is up for selection now. I am happy that he came, he did put the work in, and that says a lot about him as well. I am looking forward to him being up for selection, and hopefully, he can do well for West Indies and continue to put smiles on people’s faces”, Pooran conveyed at a virtual briefing on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old last represented West Indies in November 2021 in their failed World T20 campaign.

Meanwhile, Pooran further revealed that Gudakesh Motie’s fractured thumb has ruled him out of the series while Keemo Paul has recovered from his hamstring niggle, and is available for selection, along with Jason Holder, who has recovered from COVID-19.
