The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, through their Difficult Circumstances Department, financed eleven tested spectacles for inmates at the Georgetown and Timheri Prisons.

Meanwhile, Eye Care Guyana provided free eye testing for the eleven inmates. To this end, the Director of Prisons, Nicklon Elliot, thanked both the Ministry and Eye Care Guyana for the support.

“It is hoped that our collaboration with the difficult circumstances unit will continue to be strengthened; to change more lives,” Mr. Elliot said.

Officer in Charge Prisoners Welfare and Corrections Marielle Bristol-Grant related that the Ministry of Human Services has always been a tremendous support to the Welfare Department of the Prison and for that she is grateful.

Manager of Eye Care Guyana, Charles Van Dyke stated it was indeed a privilege to work alongside the Ministry, adding “we committed to partnering with them on this initiative for the long haul.”
