Canje businessman found stabbed to death on kitchen floor

A businessman from No.2 Village, East Canje, Berbice was Monday found dead in his kitchen located on the bottom flat of his two storey house.

Vickram ‘Vick’ Seubarran, 53, had a visible stab wound in his back.

He was the proprietor of the Universal DVD Club and Stationary Solutions at Main and Trinity Street, New Amsterdam.

He was also the President of the Port Mourant Cricket Club.

News Room was informed that a female cousin who cleans his house daily, made the discovery. The entire house was also ransacked.

His brother, Dean Seubarran, told reporters that he arrived at the house around 6:00 hrs and upon his arrival, the cousin ran out of the yard frantically and informed him that Vickram was on the kitchen floor lifeless in a pool of blood.

He disclosed that he along with two neighbours entered the yard and went into the kitchen where he saw his brother on the floor.

“I go in with two neighbour and I shaking he, he was cold so I call the police. When they come and watch, in he back he get a stab,” he said.

The police arrived shortly after and commenced investigations. His body was taken to the mortuary where a post mortem is expected to be done shortly.

It is unclear if anything was stolen from the home but the mirror of a wardrobe which is situated in the bedroom near the kitchen, was shattered. Draws and the bed were upturned and left in a state of disarray.

Investigations are underway.
