Ricardo Narine, a 40-year-old man from Enterprise on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD), was struck down after he reportedly walked across a road when a car was passing by.

Police headquarters reported that the incident occurred at around 19:45 hrs on Tuesday.

Ian Clarke, 63, was driving a motorcar with the number plate PNN 2435 along the northern drive lane of the northern carriageway of Good Hope Public Road, ECD.

Narine, who was clad in dark clothing, reportedly walked across the road into the path of his vehicle.

When the driver saw Narine, he reportedly applied his brakes but despite his effort, the front of his motor vehicle collided with Narine. He received injuries to his head and about his body.

Soon after, Narine was picked up in an unconscious state by emergency medical technicians (EMT) and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty. His condition was listed as stable.

Meanwhile, it was also reported that the driver’s blood alcohol level was tested but he was not above the alcohol limit.

     Further investigations are underway.
