Bartica businessman arrested after ganja found buried near his house
A forty-one-year-old businessman of Four Miles Squatting Area, Bartica, Region Seven was arrested on Friday after police found more than two pounds of cannabis buried near his house.
Police Headquarters reported that between 11:00 hrs and 13:00 hrs, a team of policemen conducted a search on several houses in the Four Miles Squatting area.
One of the houses belonged to the businessman.
Nothing illegal was found in the houses, however, a further search was conducted in some bushes about 50 feet away from the man’s house.
During this search, a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis was found buried underground.
The businessman was shown the narcotic and denied knowledge of it.
The man and the suspected narcotics were escorted to the Bartica Police Station where the it was weighed in his presence and amounted to 1.056 kilogrammes.
The man remains in custody assisting with investigations.
