Unvaccinated man, 87, is latest COVID death

An unvaccinated man from Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica) died after he was infected with the disease, COVID-19 on August 06. He was 87 years old, the Ministry of Health reported.

With this death, Guyana has recorded a total of 1, 272 COVID-19 deaths since March 2020.

Meanwhile, another 26 people, including 10 men and six women, are now infected with COVID-19, according to the Ministry of Health’s daily COVID-19 dashboard issued on Sunday.

With these new cases, infections recorded in Guyana since March 2020 have increased to 70,152.

The new cases were recorded in Region Two (three cases), Region Three (two cases), Region Four (14 cases), Region Five (one case), Region Six (five cases) and Region 10 (one case).

Meanwhile, there is one patient in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 14 patients in institutional isolation and 580 patients in home isolation.

To date, 68, 385 people have recovered.
