Linton Davidson walked out of the Demerara High Court a free man on Wednesday after a 12-member jury found him not guilty of six counts of rape committed on an underaged girl.

Davidson, 36, of Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown, was on trial before Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall at the Demerara Sexual Offences Court.

The victim claimed that between 2012 and 2013, while she was the age of 13 and 14 years old, Davidson allegedly engaged in sexual activity with her six times when she was left in his care by her mother.

Davidson had pleaded not guilty to the charges and was represented by attorney-at-law Dexter Todd and Shercola Exeter.

The State was represented by prosecutors Cicelia Corbin, Caressa Henry and Paneeta Persaud.
