Two men, identified by the police as 27-year-old Ryan Joseph and 29-year-old Bimal Veersammy, were shot on Tuesday night along the Melanie Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Police Headquarters reported that the two men and another person were sitting in front of a house at around 20:30 hrs when a silver Bluebird motorcar came from a western direction on the Melanie Public Road.
The motorcar, with an HD number plate, reportedly turned around a short distance from where the trio were sitting before stopping immediately in front of them. Two masked men then exited the back seat of the car and immediately opened fire on the group causing them to flee the area for safety.
Joseph received five gunshot injuries to his right side, one to his left leg, another to his left hand and one to his abdomen while Bimal Veersammy received gunshot injuries to his right hand, elbow and left leg above the knee. The third man escaped unharmed.
After the shooting, the two masked shooters re-entered the motorcar that had an unidentifiable driver inside and fled the scene, heading towards Georgetown.
The two victims were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where they were seen and treated. They are presently in stable conditions.
