Two decomposing bodies found, one in Montrose trench & another in Demerara River

A partially decomposed body of an unidentifiable male was found floating in a trench at Montrose, East Coast Demerara on Thursday while another was fished out of the Demerara River.

Police Headquarters said in a statement that the body of the deceased man of East Indian descent was found lying face down, naked in the trench at Montrose.

Police ranks who were at the scene examined the body for marks of violence but none were seen.

The body was escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home where it is awaiting identification and an autopsy.

Meanwhile, also on Thursday at about 12:15 hrs the police at the Brickdam Police Station said they received an anonymous call informing that a body was seen floating on the eastern bank of the Demerara River in the vicinity of Tiger Bay.

The scene was visited by Police ranks where the body of a male was seen badly decomposed with parts of his feet, head and hands missing.

The Police said it appeared to have been eaten or rotted.

The said body was clad in gray short pants when fished out of the river.

The body was then escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home waiting to be identified and an autopsy.
