    Two unvaccinated men are the latest COVID-19 fatalities, the Ministry of Health reported on Thursday.

    The men, a 76-year-old from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) and an 82-year-old from Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), died on Wednesday.

    This takes the total number of COVID-19 related deaths recorded in Guyana to 1, 274.

    Meanwhile, a total of 69 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry’s daily COVID dashboard.

    The new cases take the total number of infections recorded in Guyana since March 2020 to 70,353.

    The new cases were recorded in Region One (one case), Region Two (three cases), Region Thee (18 cases), Region Four (41 cases), Region Six (one case), Region Seven (three cases), Region Nine (one case) and Region Ten (one case).

    Meanwhile, there are two patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 13 patients in institutional isolation and 500 patients in home isolation.

    To date, 68, 498 people have recovered.
