Mystery remains with no arrests, leads yet in Hogg Island farmer’s murder

Family members as well as police investigators are still looking for leads that would help them expose the persons behind the gruesome murder of Romeo Persaud aka ‘Fine Boy’ of Hogg Island in the Essequibo River.

Persaud was discovered on his birthday (August 07, 2022) with his hands and feet tied and his face covered with a black plastic bag, two days after he went missing.

While family members are suspicious of his death, it remains a mystery.

Police detectives have not found any leads yet. This was according to Commander, Assistant Commissioner Mahendra Siwnarine.

The Commander told the News Room, during a telephone interview on Monday, that the investigation continues into to man’s death. While many persons were questioned, no one was arrested.

Meanwhile, the deceased mother, Holiwattie Randalph, related that the entire family remains traumatised over the boat operator’s death.

She maintains that her son was a quiet individual and had no enemies.

Randalph said, however, that the family is currently performing the religious aspect for his burial and upon conclusion, they intend to go around the neighbourhood to seek answers.

“It’s hard for us. My son left two children for his wife to take care of, in our finding we are unrested, we need answers and we are calling on anyone with information to reach out to us” the stressed mother related.

She is calling on anyone with information concerning her son’s death to contact the family.

Persaud was a father of two.
