Leeward Islands ended day one of their second round game of the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 Three-day Championship against Guyana in complete control at Park Hill, Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Opting to bat first, the Guyanese were dismissed for just 73 in 48 overs and by stumps, Leeward Islands reached 119-4, a handy lead of 46.

Opener Tommani Caesar topscored for Guyana with 26 off 113 balls, as the next highest score was 10 apiece by Mavendra Dindyal and Shamar Yearwood.

Micah McKenzie picked up 4-9 for the Leeward Islands, while Chamiqueko Landerfort had 2-7 and Onaje Amory 2-19.

Leeward Islands’ response has been led by an unbeaten 45 from Jewel Andrew and 25 not out from Nathan Edward, who have so far added 68 for the fifth wicket after coming together at 51-4.

Bowling for Guyana, Jonathan Rampersaud has picked up 2-21.
