Clement Rohee to replace Bibi Shadick as GECOM Commissioner

Long-time politician and former Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee will be sworn in as a Commissioner of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) on Tuesday.

He will fill the vacant post once occupied by Bibi Shadick who passed away on Saturday last.

Rohee will take the Oath in the presence of President Dr. Irfaan Ali at his Shiv Chanderpaul Drive office and will immediately join Sase Gunraj and Manoj Narayan, two practicing attorneys, nominated by and representing the PPP/C at GECOM.

Now in his 70s, Rohee spent his entire adult life in politics, serving in several distinguished positions at the party and government levels.

Rohee recently wrote and published two books or autobiographies as some may call them, detailing his family life, his political career and stints as a government minister.
