President Dr. Irfaan Ali will depart Guyana for Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) later today (Wednesday, August 17) on a State Visit where he will also participate in the Caribbean’s second Agri-Investment Forum and Expo that will be held there from August 19 to 21.
The Guyanese Head-of-State announced his travel plans Wednesday morning, while speaking at the launch of the Euro/Guyana Chamber of Commerce.
This forum is being held as a follow-up to the massive inaugural forum held in Guyana in May. It is part of the Guyana-led efforts to boost intra-regional food production and trade while reducing the Caribbean Community (CARICOM)’s expensive food import bill.
At Wednesday’s event, President Ali reminded all that the agricultural sector is one area through which Guyana intends to provide regional and global leadership.
“When it comes to food security and food production, Guyana is going to be a major player,” President Ali said.
