Man, 20, shot on lip during argument over female

Shamar Adrian, 20, of Byderabo Road, Bartica was shot in the wee hours of Thursday while engaged in an argument with another man over a female.

Police said the male shooter escaped after committing the act at about 04:00 hrs at 14 Miles Landing along Issano Main Road.

According to reports, the two men were on the landing when a heated argument ensued between them over a female.

As a result, the suspect allegedly drew a small handgun from his waist, pointed it in Adrian’s direction, and discharged one round.

The bullet struck Adrian to his lower lip after which the suspect made good his escape on foot.

The victim became unconscious for a while but regained consciousness while relatives were transporting him to the Troy Resource Medical Center for treatment.

He is currently being attended to by a doctor and his condition is regarded as serious.

The suspect is not yet arrested and investigations are in progress.
