The Caribbean Community (CARICOM)’s Regional Security System (RSS), a body comprising military and police personnel, has been asked by the Guyana Government to review the investigation into the murder of Ricardo Fagundes.
President Irfaan Ali made the disclosure in an invited comment on Monday when asked by the News Room about calls for an international investigation.
In fact, Dr. Ali said RSS will also review recent allegations surrounding the investigation which have given rise to speculation of bribe-taking and a cover-up afoot.
Dr. Ali’s comments come on the heels of a series of press activities seeking to bring clarity to the matter from the Guyana Police Force (GPF).
Fagundes, a popular gold dealer and biker, was riddled with bullets on March 21, 2021 moments after he exited a nightclub on Main Street, Georgetown.
