Power-packed innings from Fabian Allen and Raymon Reifer fired Jamaica Tallawahs to a resounding 55-run win over St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Men’s 6IXTY on Thursday at Warner Park in St. Kitts.
Tallawahs racked up 139 from 9.5 overs, the highest total of the 6IXTY this far, and then dismissed the Patriots for 84 in 7.2 overs.
When Rovman Powell was dismissed for a shot-filled 32 off 13 balls (3x4s, 3x6s), Tallawahs were 42-3 in 3.3 overs with openers Amir Jangoo (5) and Kennar Lewis (3) also back in the dugout.
Allen and Reifer then joined forced and pulverized the Patriots bowling, adding 80 in just 4.5 overs of riveting batting.
Allen struck five sixes and two fours in 45 off 18 balls, and Reifer slammed four sixes and a four in an unbeaten 38 off 19.
All told, Tallawahs struck 12 sixes and eight fours.
All five of the Patriots bowlers picked up a wicket, with spinner Jon-Ross Jaggesar being the pick of them with 1-13 off his two overs.
Patriots’ innings never got momentum, as they lost wickets at regular intervals.
South African Dewald ‘Baby AB’ Brevis struck five sixes in his 34 off 11, as Evin Lewis made 15 off seven (2x4s, 1×6) and ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle fell for nine off seven (1×4).
Bowling for Tallawahs, Jamie Merchant (2-8), Migael Pretorius (2-9) Nicholson Gordon (2-16) were the wicket-takers.
